Introduction to the PRHHA
Mission Statement:
- The Prairie Region Halfway House Association is a member organization dedicated to promoting information, education and leadership for its membership and the community in order to contribute to a more effective justice system.
Our members include houses that offer beds, resources and programs for men and women transiting from the federal prison system. Research confirms that having a place to go after incarceration relieves the stress of re-entry (lessening the chance of re-offending) and it gives the individual the opportunity to consider the options available to assist him or her with the transition.
One of the objectives of the Association is to ensure that we are all working together to provide as much opportunity as possible for incarcerated men and women to work their way toward a successful and peaceful reintegration back into the community. This means we are committed to working closely with Correctional Services of Canada (CSC) and the community in a collaborative effort to keep our communities safe.
We believe that offering a variety of tools such as mental and physical health support, education, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, life skills training, work opportunities and vocational training along with encouraging guidance such as emotional and spiritual support exponentially increases the likelihood of success for that person. In order to offer a comprehensive and stable network of community supports we need help from community members.
